Our Obsession with Acrylic Furniture

Clarity is a beautiful thing. This story stars about 12 years ago when Philippe Starck debuted his Ghost Chair. Nicole was at her first interior design job, the Ghost chair by Philippe Starck was all the rage. The play on the traditional, French design of the "Louis" chair was considered brilliant and uber cool. The design stuck and still maintains it's status in the world of coolness. The thing is, our design sniffing noses smell a huge trend coming on. We think acrylic furniture will be all over the place in the next year or two. Here, we will show you how beautiful clarity can be as a tangible object.

Here is one of our favorite images integrating some Bird's Eye Maple. Once you start mixing textures in and adding the warmth of wood, our hearts start to pound and we become a little breathless. At Burlock Interiors, it is a very probable thing to be in love with a piece of furniture. It's the type of behavior we condone.

See how pretty it looks here? It's another layer of texture that is so subtle. It is almost literally just an outline of a chair.
This is a pic of one of Nicole's first projects under Costas Kondylis-the conference room for an in-house office renovation. This image drives home the versatility factor of acrylic. From mod to traditional, you really can put it anywhere.  For more examples of its versatility, visit our Acrylic Furniture Ideabook on Houzz.
