The framed image thing is a hobby, but books are an utter obsession. I can’t even tell you how many books he has! The picture of all the boxes below will give you some idea.
When we moved everything onto the new and improved pallet rack shelving the book boxes measured 8 wide by 3 high by 2 deep. That’s 48 boxes. My dad guesses that there’s about 25 to 30 books per box….what’s that? I don’t even want to know because there are many more boxes and shelf-fulls beyond that.
In the process or reorganizing my dad’s stuff I moved my mom’s obsession from one place to another. Fabric, dishware and what? Gift bags and tissue paper?!
I get it. My mother has the patience of the most dedicated Domino’s employee who’s on their 29th minute and stuck in traffic (do they even do that anymore?). So she’s not going to sit and wrap anything! She’s going to toss it in a bag and fluff it up with tissue. But if she were to ever give me a gift using this material I would throw the whole thing away, gift included, fearing a Brown Recluse spider would climb out and bite me.
So I moved tons of books and dishes and put up shelves, but on the way I found some long lost pieces of history. This was my reward. (oh and the fact that I convinced my dad to get rid of like 20 boxes of books)
This is a recipe book from my private elementary school (I'll get into this later). In it are recipes for Cheese Potatoes for Twelve and Jellied Apple and Chicken Salad.
